It seems to me to standard rock formula has pretty much run its course. Same with hip hop. While people bemoan the shift away from guitar driven rock, I think ultimately it's a good thing and allows artists to explore less derivative expressions of pop music. |

Whenever they need a "modern" (emphasis on the quotes) star to represent the rock genre, for example to perform with an old star at the Grammys, they always trot out Dave Grohl. The only other comparable person is Jack White.
Contrast this with pop music, where at different times they would have used Britney Spears, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Olivia Rodigo, Billie Eilish, you could go on and on... |
