Then you just walk out and realise that anyone could've left at anytime like the Truman Show. Also they have other cities that aren't like this at all.
There is no one analogue but several cover different aspects —
—Blacks e.g. Barrett fleeing slavery in order to be unemployed gangstas = lots of Northern U.S. cities —City with a lot of refineries in the middle of nowhere and awkwardly far from the shoreline = Houston —The Caste stratification with physical barriers and security to reinforce is mostly fantasy but is probably closest to Israel irl. |
