Labor force participation has increased by roughly 3 points since 1972 (60% -> 63% today) and labor hours worked have gone up just under double (144bn -> 260bn today). The US population has risen from 200M to 330m. Back-of-the-envelope numbers here imply workers are working roughly 5% more hours today than in 1972.
