"Police are investigating a shooting in University City involving a University of Pennsylvania student and students from Drexel University.
Authorities said the University of Penn student fired 15 shots into an apartment occupied by Drexel students on 44th Street near Pine.
Police said the shooting all stemmed from an argument between a Penn student and a Drexel student about their backgrounds. The Penn student, who is Korean, was arguing with the Drexel student, who is Indian, over their backgrounds, police said.
"There's some indication that he was accusing him of being from another country, possibly being spies and that’s what he wanted to confront him about," said Lt. Walker.
According to police, the second-year University of Pennsylvania Law student shot at his neighbor's front door. The 9mm gun shot out the locks on the door." |

Thousands successfully escape every year because they are NOT hive-minded.
The CIA and KCIA have been reporting a high level of multi-band radios being used by North Korean families to pick up on foreign transmissions. In fact, defectors have attested to an exhorbitant amount of people being locked up in gulags for being in possession of such radios.
Defector testimony also reveals a high level of unrest among North Korean academia as well as top party officials, that actually goes unpunished because it is now so prevalent.
NK is not nearly as sealed off as these television programs like to scare the Western world into thinking it is. I just spoke to a North Korean defector last week here in NYC. He said all you need is $5 to bribe the border guard and you can come and go as you please. The problem is, people don't want to run away into China only to be picked up by the numerous bounty hunters and sent back to a North Korean gulag, and most Koreans don't speak Chinese.
As Professor Woo-Cumings once told me, the hive-mindedness thing is a bunch of crap perpetuated by an ignorant news media. Nobody with a brain, not even the US government believes that anymore. "It's hard for a people to love their country when their children are starving to death." |

You may have already heard that a second-year Penn Law student was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly firing shots into a neighbor's apartment at his off-campus residence. He remains in custody.
Since becoming aware of this incident late yesterday afternoon, the Law School administration has been in constant contact with Penn's Division of Public Safety, the Vice Provost for University Life, the Counseling Office, the Provost, and others concerned with safety and security on campus. Our goal is to ensure that all members of the community are safe.
Acting on my authority under the Code of Student Conduct and Responsibility, I have temporarily suspended the student from the J.D. program. The matter will be reported to the School's Committee on Student Conduct and Responsibility for its consideration.
We expect that, when he is released, a court order will bar the student from the Penn and Drexel campuses. In the meantime, the University has sought to ensure that supportive services are being made available to him via the various agencies dealing with this matter.
From noon to 12:45 pm today, in Room 214, an open-house will be held by representatives of the Penn Police, Counseling, and Vice Provost's Office, at which time they will explain stepped-up security measures and will answer any questions you may have. Additionally, we will arrange to have counselors in the building on a drop-in basis, if any one wishes to speak to someone about this situation personally.
An event like this is unprecedented in Penn Law's long history. We are working with professionals in our response to the incident. But perhaps more importantly, the inherent strength of the Penn Law community is our greatest resource.

The adcom that admitted him might feel bad about it, especially if he was a borderline admit, but even then it's kinda hard to do that given that no one actually got hurt (except the 2L, who probably would have had a similar incident no matter where he was this year). |
