I don't think any social science mymasters is prestigious, they're just pay to play. I guess there is some social prestige, like their parents could afford to pay for it.

MIT/Caltech

For MBA it's a smaller list. What other masters' are remotely prestigious, or reject significant numbers of applicants?

I mean, they have better employment prospects than non-M7/T14. Don't think there's really a "prestige"/wow-factor with them, outside of HSW/HYS.

Idk how harshly can you judge this shit when the acceptance rates are so low and a lot of teenagers are hormonal and dgaf about GPA/OCI when they're like 15.

Chicago had its niche for the brainy somewhat nerdy kids who typically didn't make the cut at an Ivy solely because there was that one subject they always got a B- in because they knew it wasn't important. Lots and lots of very high SATs but average GPAs.

Nowadays Chicago is cleverly gunning for all the bright UMC kids shut out of the Ivies due to identity politics and DEI admissions, reasonably predicting it'll pay rewards down the road. Given the collapse of the Ivy prestige in recent years, it's not been a bad strategy.

cr. It's hard for oldmos like me to take Chicago seriously due to how easy it was to get in in the 90s, but I agree they are doing great now.
