I gained a lot of eight in college. In fact, when I first started gaining weight, more guys asked me out. Chubby girls still get dates, and plenty of them.
And it's not as if when you're thin you get better guys - you just get more superficial guys. Guys really aren't a good incentive to stay thin - you just have to be healthy. |

I'm just saying there are some girls who have always been hot, never had to put effort into it when they were young, and probably continue their bad habits into their mid-20s, thinking that their natural good looks will carry them. Also, if you've always been hot your looks might be something you take for granted and not be such a big issue to you. Women who are just average looking probably put a lot of effort into staying in good shape and being thin because is all they have going for them. |

Food tastes good and is comforting. It's an immediate pleasure. Eating a cheeseburger is great immediately; any negative externalities associated with eating the burger come much later. If you're already fat it's even worse. If you don't eat the burger it's going to take you several weeks to see difference.
I'm sure if people were given the choice lose five pounds now or eat this burger, people would forego the burger. But it's hard to put off immediate gratification for future rewards. |

But the girls Earl is talking about aren't so fat that they're unhealthy. The chick he mentioned is 5'5 and 140. She's at a normal BMI and is probably actually healthier than a super skinny chick - more fertile and at a smaller risk for osteoporosis.
I agree with you about picking bad habits, but I think it just comes down to people being lazy and weak. People just like eating and don't control themselves, despite knowing they're hurting themselves in the long run. You are very concerned about your weight and like exercising and all that stuff but unfortunately most people don't. |
