From that lens I would not be surprised in the least if this is true to some degree, as it is a wholly logical outcome.
Marx said that elites from two vastly different places such as Europe and Africa would have more in common with each other than with lower class people from their own lands.
Thus it is unsurprising that the ruling elites of the Democrat party, who themselves are of a very international character, are no longer able to relate to the common voter, outside of heavily urbanized areas, on a meaningful level.
Lets face it, over the past few decades the rhetoric out of the Democratic party has become progressively more rarefied and deranged. The causes are more fringe, the positions are more stratified. The echo chambers and megaphones are larger. Combine this with a rapidly aging party leadership and you have a recipe for an out of touch and highly volatile party that is in danger of splintering. |
