Date: June 20th, 2025 9:34 AM Author: Domesticated at-the-ready area mediation china supports and has put quite a bit of material towards the IRG cause. chinese trainers work pretty closely with their airforce and iirc they have some fairly comprehensive treaties on the books regarding strategic and economic cooperation signed back during trump 1, '16 or '17. iran is a key part of china's middle east strategy and their economic launchpad for belt and road type initiatives in the region. taking their regime out of the picture and forcing iran into the US sphere of influence basically "locks up" the middle east for american interests for some time. will they manage to swing that? i don't know. it could go either way. but speaking cautiously ousting the regime is probably a good thing for americans' middle eastern strategy, and may have unintended or secondary effects in other theaters that benefit the US' global security posture. |

Date: June 20th, 2025 10:00 AM Author: Domesticated at-the-ready area mediation i think the strategic thinking re russia is that it's so bruised and economically stagnant with no real offramps available that the current sanctions will effectively neutralize its ability to aggress while also bringing trouble to the United Russia administration once it no longer has a war to focus on. it may not be super satisfying for pro-ukrainemos in the short term, but with time, it's likely to make more sense. with russia, every move against it has to be made from an oblique angle. the american russia strategy happens over decades, not months. |
