1. no respect for internationally recognized boundaries (ukraine, georgia, moldova). literally invaded a neighbor in EUROPE! it matters because without a response, it emboldens everyone else (including China) to engage in land grabs and destroy post-ww2 order. 2. the government is anti-democratic, corrupt, and supports rogue countries. The biggest arms traffickers for terrorists and rogue states are russians with deep connections to the kremlin. Even before the war, they gladly provided financial and material backing to venezuela, iran, north korea, cuba, and china.
3. they use oil and gas as a weapon against the west. Over the past 15 years they've shut off or curtailed gas shipments to europe to gain dominance in eastern europe.
4. they conduct intelligence operations in democratic countries aimed at backing anti-western political parties. Especially true in the old soviet republics where they are the direct financiers of anti-EU and anti-US parties but even in western europe and the US, they've engaged in similar lobbying.
5. It's one of the largest and most powerful autocratic governments on the planet. Its values are the antithesis of western values. Conflict is inevitable. |

The actual "West" (i.e. - America) is being invaded at our borders and our economy being decimated by China. that should be our top priorities

The "EU" has done more harm to America's interests than Russia ever has. they've been relying on us to fund their feudalism era bullshit for like 150 years now and everyone is sick of it. millions of americans have died protecting Europe, we've let in millions more escaping "pogroms" or whatever the fuck all because you people have shit cultures and can't stop killing each other. then you come here and act like you're our betters and shit all over Western/American culture.
5. They have not done shit to us. "Western values" only apply to stuff that matters to the actual West, which is America. Europe is a socialist open borders hellhole and it makes perfect sense Russia wants to take them over. China is the actual problem and threat and Russia is nothing more than a gas pump run by alcoholic retards who pose no threat to us.
