No more than 10% of the population gets any use from a university education.

The rest should be packed off to jobs training programs. Learn to build a fucking car, Detroit.

Companies are not going to put up with the government telling them who to hire. And this sort of thing has been set up with many education systems inside and outside the US and that is always what happens, the company makes sure it has no obligation to hire them. They are happy with the status quo.

People still make very good money as plumbers and welders and stuff. They aren't growth sectors, but there is a labor shortage in them because too many people are irrationally going to college. So, for those who get into these fields, it will basically be like being in a growth sector.

"There are plenty of good jobs for people who aren't scared of hard work."

The problem is that the number of decent blue collar jobs is rapidly shrinking. Cities and towns that were once solidly blue-collar middle-class are devolving into second-world dumps.

There's some truth to this.

My brother is a truck driver and they are ALWAYS looking for people with the specialized license. Most of the big companies (UPS, FedEx, etc.) pay a decent wage.

The bottom of the barrel kids at shit colleges should probably be looking at this type of work. But most think it's below them

Apprenticeships would be a good idea for the middle-of-the-barrel kids. Essentially, you work an internship with the first year subsidized by the government and earn benefits in subsequent years based on job performance.

Schools should also be forced to cap tuition if they accept federal loans.
