PE is a wholly destructive force at this point. they do not create new wealth and prosperity by funding innovative new products and services anymore. the era of PE doing that is basically entirely over
they are now wholly parasitic and go around buying up productive companies with monopoly money and then reduce quality of products and services as much as possible while jacking up prices as much as possible. HVAC companies, plumbing companies, veterinary offices, ice cream parlors, everything. straight up zero sum parasitism
private equity is the caricature of "Evil Capitalism" that marxists complain about, except it's actually real |

PE is a very serious threat and it needs to be dealt with and it's not clear how it would even be possible to do that short of an actual dictatorship |

PE does not do anything positive. they literally just make what the customer gets strictly shittier and raise the prices. wholly negative consequences. you can't even say that dividends or stock price increases from increased profits are passed on to the stockholders, who could hypothetically be the general public, because it's privately held by cartoon villain financiers |
