I did the quest line with the female character, got through most of it and she randomly glitched Forever. She's crouched down in a bus or something. After that I bee-lined it through the main quest. Don't know why anyone would think this is good. So many terrible and useless RPG elements. So much rubbish dialogue.
Witcher 3 seemed like it wanted the cutscenes to be the selling point and I couldn't get into it either, but I could at least see how Losers could enjoy it just because it's a large fantasy world that isn't Bethesda slop. |

All of the stats and modifiers were just for show and amounted to essentially nothing. But you still had to bother with 'leveling up' and adjusting skill points. Either make an rpg or don't. Yes action RPGs usually have slop gameplay but turn-based is just weak and it's hard to make it properly challenging. They can make it seem challenging by having bosses kill players but then give you plenty of time to revive them. The actual best balance is FF7 Remake/Rebirth but nobody cares. If you picked up a dood with low stats, you either saved him for the end of the fight to get his stats up, or you fed him as dog food to an enemy, like Ukraine sending janitors info minefields. At the end of the game you could save your survivors onto a floppy disk and import them into the next Ultima game
There's nothing remotely like that now. I can't look a unit's stats and decide he's expendable, then use him that way. Can't build up a character and then reuse it in the next game. |
