1. The banks and big boys were just out to max their fucking initial profit.
2. The gov just turned a fucking blind eye to what these fuckers were doing.
3. The little guy went on bought this shit stock thinking he'll make a killing.
This is ARE country. Where the gov does fucking nothing to protect the normal guy. The ppl at the very top just manipulate the system and make a shitload even when they fuck shit up.
God bless ARE country. Washington would be proud.

You make it sound like Facebook gave some information beyond what was in the prospectus.
Facebook added that "vague and trite" paragraph to the prospectus. Outside research analysts read it and said "hmm, this paragraph makes me want to lower my independent forecast that I have come up with from the publicly available information only." The firms employing those outside research analysts than told their clients, who pay them for research advice, what the independent researchers thought.
So should we not be allowed to have stock analysts now?

I don't feel sorry for any "little guy" investor who bought hoping for a pop, i.e. bought on the "bigger fool" theory.
That said, the stock market is always stacked against the little guy and it's sad how much bullshit gets put out there in terms of convincing people who have no idea what they're doing to basically let their retirement money ride.
I don't even think the MS disclosure/non-disclosure issue matters that much in the grand scheme. The IPO was massively overpriced regardless of FB results.

Stock trades for years on secondary market--> Most money is made there -->"Investors" shocked when the IPO collapses.
I wonder why?

Just an observation from someone who is an investing idiot...
It was clear to me just by reading a few articles on the IPO that buying shares was a horrible idea. Facebook seemed to be hugely overvalued and anybody with any level of common sense could see that FB's ability to make money in the future was going to be severely limited in its current state (ie, the way they are making money off of ads, etc). How they expand to make money in other ways is largely dependent on a control-freak CEO that stole the idea for FB to begin with.. And on a personal level, I know countless numbers of people who have stopped using or drastically reduced their FB usage over the past six months or so. It's getting old, and when the "next big thing" of social media hits, it will go the way of myspace. Probably not as quickly, but eventually it will.
So... to make a long story short, anybody with any common sense (even if they are stupid when it comes to stocks, like me), could see that FB was and still is a poor investment.
