Friend killed our long running group text. Need advice on how to proceed

A week ago One guy sent a text out of the blue saying "can you guys pray for my mom she just got diagnosed with stage 5 renal cancer".
And now it's completely dead. I went to send a funny ass AI video of Tony Soprano playing soccer and it felt wrong to be the first to reply after that serious text. So now I'm thinking I should create a new group text minus that dude and proceed as normally. But I don't want him to find out. |
