A friend of mine, who is also a PoliSci shithead with similar (almost no) WE, is encouraging me to apply to the bank/company that he's been working for for the past 2 months.
This would be my first "real" job, and other than his confidence that I stand a good chance at getting hired, it doesn't seem likely that I'd get a job like this.
For example, the job description mentions "experience with ____ (computer programs)", and I have NONE. I suppose I could obtain copies of this software and stuff and figure it out (doesn't seem that hard), but I'm not sure how I could make myself appear more legitimate.
Have any of you managed to bootstrap yourselves into jobs for which you weren't quite qualified? How did you do it? Do you have any advice for me? (Other than sucking off the hiring manager (he could be ugly)).
