pro-Palestine people overlook or downplay the precariousness of israel's geopolitical/military/cultural situation and exactly how difficult it was to get a jewish state to exist with security in the region. israel is also not a bad steward of the land, especially compared to their regional neighbors, although i will personally allow for some of the anti-colonial arguments against this idea's (use-value) fundaments despite not agreeing with them myself

pro-israel people won't even touch the well documented notion that hamas was a mossad/shin bet invention (as a preferable and more docile alternative to the radical and 2nd world supported PLO) and that there's good evidence that the attacks were, at the very least, known about in advance. i think it goes much deeper than that but we can start there

Israel has a small population in the great scheme of things, is very sensitive to casualty numbers, tries to promote high birth rates, etc. They seem to be very focused on Jews not going extinct. Not saying you're wrong but why would they let the attack by Hamas happen if they knew about it beforehand?

pull in more american involvement in the region/gain the depopulated palestinian territories/tank (or delay, at a minimum) the peace deal that would link them further into the american supported sunni axis before it solidifies. it was also supposed to be a major push for trump's campaign but with some grace trump has managed to avoid getting pulled in too deeply to what i suspect the original plan was

also israel's center to far right military government gets to use fears of another intifada/Global Anti-Semitism Rising to wheedle and coerce the diaspora (even this term itself is Zionist propaganda btw; jews may have homes they prefer to israel anywhere on the planet, and this is superior both in image and structure for the jewish mission in the world) back under zionist control

this is the scummiest chapter in american history that i can recall, outside of what happened in response down the line to 9/11. no surprise that israel is a driving force in both events
