I did a motorized mount that goes from above fireplace to eye level. It’s nice to “put it away” sometimes and I hate staring up in the air to watch something or especially playing games

I have this set up. Nowhere else to put this TV in my living room. Could have put it in the playroom but there is a glass sliding backdoor and it would 100% get stolen if visible from.the backyard (if you know my income situation you know)

Probably where our kitchen table is, or in the useless "reception" area. Or, if step-dad is an asshole, in the basement. (1999 model probably wouldn't have the glass sliding door at that point in time anyway, so that room would be perfect)

It’s been since like 2007. Idk it’s insane and it’s just an extension of Open Concept. Women who don’t know how to use a dishwasher will stand Imperiously in the kitchen for a really long time, passive aggressively making noise, even if they don’t cook. For a Woman standing and watching from another room (but is it really another room?) a high sight line —uninterrupted by Idle Men — is preferred. The Idle Man’s preferences are secondary. Distantly.

this.
im basically forced to look at homes from before the great housing crash. so 1990s and 2007. after that, they all went open to save on building costs and because of social media, americans were like ya, wow! i want my entire floor to be 1 room for when i host people once every 3 years

it's ugly and so stupid. what's really ridiculous is that it's become so common and accepted that developers building very expensive, semi-custom homes (2-4M) will just put it in a new build as default. you can imagine them in the design stage, reviewing the plans with the client saying, "you want your tv over the fireplace, right?"

this. i mean if a home is like 500k or 600k i can see them just cramping whatever dumb shit goys want to check off (omg, a fireplace!)
but i mean $1m+ homes and they are still designed for legit retards. somwhow ive even seen homes less than 5 years old that have a basement TV theater room LJL

that is weird. always seemed to me it was just something people did because tvs became flat so they could make a room bigger by mounting it there. lol at designing specifically to do that

It’s better for passive tv watching while doing other stuff in the kitchen. Also better for hosting when there’s a game on. Obviously it’s worse ergonomically if you’re optimizing for your “home theater” experience. But that’s not what people are optimizing for, and also that’s not a mental image that really sells (watching movies alone vs. having a fun party and watching tv while preparing food).
