I was billing 280-315 hours per month and they were working me under the table sending emails all hours of the night (including some of the folks on this bill). In these cases, the partners are constantly having to update the board and senior management and there is an insane amount of documents to review on an expedited basis, plus thousands of RFAs, interrogatories, stupid discovery letters/motions/30(b)(6) depositions, expert work, dispositive motions, statements of undisputed facts, etc.—plus you need to be preparing senior folks for depositions, coordinating with their individual counsel if they have it, traveling, etc.
This case was filed July 12 and set for trial October 17. People don’t realize how short that is to prepare for a dispute of this magnitude, which would require things like pulling emails and text messages from outside directors (who don’t have company email addresses and who were probably on their yachts off St. Tropez at the time the case was filed). |
