but even at that, the food network shouldn't be about just providing recipes. with the internet we can get any recipes we want. the food network should really be about teaching the finer points of cooking: when it's appropriate to use different mother sauces, which spices pair well with other spices, how to alter base recipes to hone them to your taste (alton brown did this a lot, e.g. see his chocolate chip cookie episode), etc.
they do very little of this now, especially since some of the better shows (good eats, molto mario) have gone off the air. |
