I can't get myself to think of Pearl Jam as some "good" band

All of those random bands that only existed for 2 years in the 90s like Lit/Len/Live/Semisonic/Harvey Danger/Eve6 are all just as good and here are 10 random bands that are better
RHCP
RATM
TEB
TFF
Coldplay
Radiohead
Fuck
No Doubt
30 Odd Foot of Grunts
The Blues Brothers
PJ is about on par with Imagine Dragons or something. If they were to go on tour, Rob Thomas with Carlos Santana should have Pearl Jam OPENING for their opening act.

Cr
I never understood their popularity, I just have utter indifference toward them. They might as well be the Gin Blossoms or something

Theory: PJ had Cobain killed so that they would be the undisputed kings of the pile of shit genre called "grunge music."
Does "grunge" even use the actual grunge pedal any more than other genres? Or is grunge just a euphemism for "depressing music that makes no sense and takes itself seriously that's rooted in punk."

Oh, what an artist!
The band members grew uncomfortable with their success, with much of the burden of Pearl Jam's popularity falling on frontman Vedder.[10] While Pearl Jam received four awards at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards for its video for "Jeremy", including Video of the Year and Best Group Video, the band refused to make a video for "Black" in spite of pressure from the label. This action began a trend of the band refusing to make videos for its songs. Vedder felt that the concept of music videos robbed listeners from creating their own interpretations of the song, stating that "Before music videos first came out, you’d listen to a song with headphones on, sitting in a beanbag chair with your eyes closed, and you’d come up with your own visions, these things that came from within. Then all of a sudden, sometimes even the very first time you heard a song, it was with these visual images attached, and it robbed you of any form of self-expression."[27] "Ten years from now," Ament said, "I don't want people to remember our songs as videos."[10]

i've come to a different conclusion. the singles on "ten" were massively overplayed, but the next two albums (vs. and vitalogy) both have a fair number of good songs that were never played all that much.
then it really went haywire with "no code," after which point there are scattered songs here and there that were decent, but nothing very cohesive.
