I'll never be able to find it because it was months ago and I have no idea what thread it was in, but I saw one such interaction between short quotemo and bloodacre. I think I even asked bloodacre whether he heard back from short quotemo. I had also provided my throwaway in that thread, right below bloodacre's, but short quotemo ignored me.

Inference: Short quotemo used this email process to build up the slack with XO poasters without many here catching on.

Fact 3 (admitted by Bloodacre): I saw an interaction described in Fact #1 occur between short quotemo and Bloodacre.

Fact 4: Bloodacre admitted corresponding with short quotemo via email, and topics included crypto.

Fact 5: At the time Bloodacre made his initial denial of knowing of the slack’s existence, definitive proof of the slack was not yet available on XO.

Fact 6: A huge reason behind Fact #5 was because short quotemo threatened to kick out anyone who discussed the mere existence of the slack, either on XO itself, or “anyone associated with XO.”

Fact 7: Bloodacre has claimed that he and short quotemo are friends.

Inference at the core of this dispute: At some point, off bort, Short quotemo told Bloodacre of the existence of the slack. Due to facts #6 and 7, along with some #5, Bloodacre chose to lie about its existence.

i felt vindicated in the moment, but in the years since the episode, i've also realized that the strength of my reaction wasn't confined to that specific interaction, but was governed by severe punishments i'd received as a child for minor lapses and offenses. i've since come to think that the saner response would have been to cut that man off cleanly instead of trying to roast him alive. i felt that he'd waged an unprovoked fight and that i successfully retaliated with an overwhelming response, but even then i was suffering from the heat of my vindictive fire. he'd stoked the anger, but wasn't the ultimate cause of it.

righteous anger can feel addictive because it feels like you're combating injustice, but i don't believe that it's an unmitigated good. it comes with a cost, and you should ponder whether it's worth it. i have decided that it's not.
