Bro you're being too generous here. My only "techniques" are to be Tall, wear suits from Walmart that the jury can relate to, and make facial expressions that are appropriate.

Before my last trial I read parts of pozner and dodds book on cross. I was familiar with the basic framework, but going through the examples and specific techniques in the book can be helpful.

18000. Reminds me DA told me they have a “cycle of violence” expert in one of my cases. Haven’t had to deal with one in a dv trial before so I need to figure out the cross. Will have to look closely at her CV
In a perfect world you work on real claims with real people. In this world, I take whatever scraps I can get from the table and the quality of the scraps is so bad it leads to kooky matter handling to be sure.
If 'always know the answer' is commandment 4 why do have to 'listen to the answer' in commandment 5. There shouldn't be surprising info in the answer that you need to ask about on the fly.
State your IQ and your cross experience before I engage you further. Witnesses will often give you the answer that you already know, and then will say something else that they think undermines the significance of the point you just made. When they do that, you don't just move on to your next question (unless what they said is so obviously stupid that all you need to do is look over at the jury and make a face)
it's a must. of course, he was doing cross with no discovery. such a different art. he'd have, say, 12 solid chapters that he knew would deliver. but he'd have to space out his speculative theories and be ready to abort any speculative chapter on the fly if it wasn't panning out and then move on to a sure winner.
i also have the cross in the Triangle Shirtwaist case. Max Steuer at the top of game.
Rainmaker by John Grisham and also Time to Kill. Then just keeping asking XO for advice and you will become a master of jury persuasion, it;s not hard.
