If you're going to war (and have the money), then get all the battle-tested stuff. For just shooting around, I dont see why the Chinese clones that cost about 1/5 or 1/10 the cost arent good enough.

Get some chinese led light clones. You can use the money towards ammo and mags instead.

a .308 or .30-06 rifle with a decent scope and a bipod and an accurate dope chart that you develop at the range is an absolutely essential item for civil conflicts. then start getting into tungsten carbide ammunition.

Especially where the fuck are you going to be sniping people and not immediately be overrun by a horde of niggers with machetes?

The coming civil war is going to have a lot more in common with Chechnya, Serbia/Yugoslavia, and to some extent Syria than subthread OP's fantasy. Just a bloody grind of MOUT and house by house clearing of blocks one at a time.

That's at the start, but you need to be able to take territory back from your opponent at some point in time. Unless you think ceding all the major cities is a viable long term strategy (spoiler alert: it's not). Read a history book.

I'm talking about non combatant civilians. i.e. What everyone on this shit board would be. In reality 90% would flee any territory that truly collapsed. But in the event you chose to stay in your white boomer exurb you are protecting your neighborhood and not taking territory. With the exception if your neighborhood defense militia decides to start attacking territory but very likely there won't be the man power or will for that.

Other exception is you join a true centralized combatant network but that will also never happen in the United states because there will always bee some semblance of military to hold and engage crucial territory.

Ultimately you either live in a coastal city you flee or die in until it gets under federal control or you live in an interior city population center that has degraded public safety to extent organized black criminals start killing and extorting with impunity until peace framework is formed, likely with same criminals taking prominent role in local government. In that case you flee to exurbs and hold with previous mentioned band of white boomers and shoot it out with whoever drives out there for loot.

Then long, long term, assuming full collapse you go to agro self defense commune and de facto independent territories end up forming along city, rural divide. But this is not going to happen and you (any xo poster) will likely flee to Argentina or Europe by this point.

This is pure fantasy, read about how shit actually went down in Yugoslavia. That's probably the closest thing to a full on race war that we have seen in modern times.

I know how it went down in Yugoslavia. The ones who could flee did and the others were subjugated by militias. Bosnia and Serbia are also the size of Michigan with a couple major cities. Reality is you will either run or die.

They don't need to siege them the cities will starve on their own when the countryside stops exporting them food. Are there enough rats to feed 2 million people in Philly? Maybe. Not for long though.

Just wait until foreign powers try to Berlin Airlift the cities. Dropping in food and medicine might work but it also might turn into Somalia with feral nigs hoarding supplies and building warring factions which plays in the rural favor.

The cities will absolutely need to be sieged. Most large cities (ie the lib industrial base). After a month of food (and Chinese goods) deprivation any major city will implode with refugees flocking outwards and local power brokers fighting over what is left.

Air interdiction would be a key part of any siege though major airports are generally located outside oof major cities.

Glock 17 (bigger hands) or 19 (if you want to conceal carry)

Ar15, get one with the rail mounting

- cheap flash light

- cheap sling

If you have extra funds:

- holosun 510c (circle dot)

- holosun 3x magnifier

If you have 10k to spare, and this is the only "game changer" attachment

- pvs-14 white phosphor night vision optics

- helmet to mount the optics

- laser illuminator for your gun

CR! LPVO with offset is superior to dot/reflex + magnifier though -- wayyyy easier to ID targets, especially in actual fighting environments

Huh? Even I don't think this is a poll tax. This is more of a use tax than a poll tax. Similar to hunting/fishing licenses.

Also, I would have paid $500+ if I could have gotten this done ASAP instead of months of waiting.

Hot take - buy a Ruger 10/22 to at least have something to a.) PRACTICE with and b.) have a rifle that you can cheaply stock tons of ammo and dump a lot of indiscriminate rounds. Minimal stopping power but don't underestimate how quickly people will BTFO once they've been shot.

which .357? I have the 7 round model 686. so much more accurate (or I am) and enjoyable to shoot compared to a striker fired glock.

See edit -- LOVE ACSS reticle, one of the best I've ever shot with. If I could get that reticle in a Leupold, Nightforce, or Vortex, I'd never buy another LPVO

I don't like ACOGS very much -- the eye relief sucks, they're not adjustable which can really come in handy (especially if you're not running an offset dot), but they're at least very durable and bright. If you've got nothing else, run it -- otherwise get a Vortex (or any of the others I listed, all of which I would run before an ACOG).

I've got an acog on each of my noveske's (only one has the ACSS). I've also got an unopened box Vortex LPVO that I have never mounted with an aftermarket offset mount. Might have to get around to playing with it.

great list, a lot of work typing that out.

highly unnecessary. many would be better off with a different 5.56 than some of those armories. what's wrong with a random 5.56 vs a random ar15 brand.

personally i agree with glock having a glock 21 but it's so broad. the p320 is great but i wouldn't get it in .357 or .40.

Those brands are well known for quality. I don't know what poasters can afford, or what they need for their specific situation; best possible world is a KAC SR-15 upper on a Radian Model 1 lower with Geissele internals, but idk how many poasters can put one of those together -- much less find them rn. If a poaster lives in downtown Memphis, they have different needs than a poaster in Wyoming; they also have differing budgets. Giving them a list they can pick and choose from is far more helpful than telling them what exact model to buy.

I'd love to hear what other 5.56 people should run that offers an advantage over those I listed. PSA? they're better than nothing, certainly, and if they were my second or third AR, I'd get one no problem. But I want something better as my first option.

Yeah, again, I didn't tell people what model or caliber to buy because needs differ, but those brands make quality and out of that pool, you can find something for pretty much any mission. It's like tools -- if you asked me where to buy tools, I might not know what your project is but I know Gearwrench wrenches and Dewalt battery powered are well made and backed up by good customer service.

Glock 17 with a light + night sights in it. Woke people like red dots but I prefer hard sights.

I have a Daniel Defense DDm4v11 pro that I’ve put 2,000 rounds through without a single failure. Put a light and sling on it. Forward grips are a choice of preference but I prefer something that’s more horizontal. Make sure to get flip up irons. I have an EOS + 3x magnifier on mine.

You should also have a 22 and a 308 if you have room. I like the ruger 10/22 and the M1A Scout.

Alright. Some of these will be expensive, some will be cheaper. Wade through the links to find one that fits what you're looking for. Don't pay more than $2,800 for an AR-15 and that better be for KAC or Radian -- no others are worth it. Most of these you should not pay more than $2,500 for, and that number drops to $1,900 if it's BCM or LWRC, $1,500 if Aero or Turner -- and all of those numbers are still in the expensive range, where you should be looking for some aftermarket upgrades like Geissele or Radian triggers/charging handles, or something else to raise the value.

AR-15:

AR-10:

Those are all amazing rifles, and they're all top end.

But most people here are just getting into guns. They'd be better served getting some standard issue ~$1000 AR15 and putting thousands of rounds through the rifle.

The AR platform is extremely mature such that most of off-the-shelf components are very reliable. It's diminishing returns at the top end, and half the price is the cachet of the brand name.

yeah, but most people posting on xo should be able to afford $3k for a top-of-the-line rifle that they'll have forever, especially when it's still really really hard to find $1200 rifles in stores + that $1200 PSA rifle will get upgraded in two years anyway.

This is a significant reason I've focused on high quality rifles -- most people here can probably afford it, and right now it is hard to get lower quality ones at commensurately lower prices anyway. If you're going to buy now, it's going to be expensive, and you may as well get something damn good for that.

Yes, for those who can afford it, getting a quality name-brand rifle is reasonable.

Anyway, the gun is just a tool. Squad tactics, skills with the weapons are just as important.

The first part is fair. Anyone for whom this is true should get the Turner I linked very first, or one of the cheaper Aero or LWRC rifles somewhere in there.

I think I probably disagree some with the idea that you're paying just for the rollmark -- I can point to significant differences in shooting Radian / KAC vs. Aero / Turner. However, you're right that an Aero or BCM rifle is more than sufficient for 95% of all needs, and I linked several there for that reason. However, right now everything is overpriced and you pay less of a markup right now by buying a good gun -- which most people here can probably afford.

A) What do you have?

B) What environment/terrain do you live in?

If you get a shotgun, I'd get semi-auto. I'd also get an AR first, and then a 7.62 rifle.

Definitely get the 10/22, they're such versatile little guns.

19 is good, I like mine.

I love em -- very easy to shoot fast and well, very customizable to needs, versatile (can clear houses and shoot out to 500y with a 14.5 barrel).

Clay Martin? Which one? He just came out with a new one like 2 weeks ago called Prairie Fire, which is far more geared towards actual civil war than Concrete Jungle, which is much more of a "how to get out of your shitlib hellhole" guide. I've read both (Prairie Fire yesterday). In Prairie Fire, he recommends against body armor because it's expensive, heavy, and takes time to get used to working in. He also says that if you're going to buy it, buy Hesco.

I’ll order that one next

I’m still in pretty shitlib area so there’s really no where to train which he says is most important

Yes, both Concrete Jungle and Prairie Fire are good -- but especially Prairie Fire.

Funny you should poast this -- I just ordered the reissue of Paul Lefavor's SUT manual. It's one of the two best resources I've found on SUT, the other being this amazing manual: https://www.amazon.com/Small-Unit-Tactics-Raids-Illustrated/dp/1734888024

Get those two things and you have all the knowledge access you need. Only thing left is to train.
