I think this is pretty much the consensus among everyone I have spoken to. Now the question is if i should stay up for it. I need my beauty rest.

I passed!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to make the evening most interesing, I had my number memorized wrong and the number I thought it was did not pass (my heart dropped...sorry to those who did not pass, in all sincerity). But then I looked it up on my computer via my "Sent Email" folder that had my essay uploads for the exam with my exam number and it turns out I had two numbers flipped. My REAL number passed!!!! Wooohoooo!!
Now all I have to do is make sure I got a high enough score on the MBE to transfer into D.C. My luck, I probably didn't, especially considering I managed to pass the bar (only one good thing can happen to me in each calendar year).

I also passed.
Hoo-ray, hoo-ray
I'm curious what the pass rate was, since the essays seemed easier but were kind of unusual and redundant.

I thought the essays were rather easy also and definitely redundant. They had me thinking that I was missing something.
I did a rough estimate based on the numbers listed on the website. The registration numbers appear to go roughly from 10000 to 13000, which means there were approximately 3000 applicants. The number of passes listed is approximately 2200 (204 per column multiplied by 11 columns). Therefore, a rough passage rate would be 73% (2200/3000).

I did the numbers and got 80%...
By my count there are 2444 numbers listed and the numbers run from 10002 to 13039.
Of course, there are a few no-shows or kicked-outs in there...

Does anyone know if we'll find out our actual score on the exam on the report that they send out, or does it just say if we passed/failed??

From what I've heard it just says you passed.
My question would be: How do you know if your MBE is high enough to transfer to another state?

You just go to www.ncebx.org and submit a request for a score transfer. However, if you are going to Minnessota (lulz) or D.C. (like me), because those states do the score transfer request themselves through the bar application an applicant submits, instead you can request a "score advisory" report.
I submitted mine yesterday but it said Illinois won't release results for score advisories or transfers until October 15, so I won't know whether I scored high enough on my MBE for D.C. for another three weeks or so. My girlfriend did it last year and it is just a letter saying that your MBE score was either sufficient or insufficient for transfering to your chosen jurisdiction. That way you know your status before actually filling out the new bar application.

Date: October 19th, 2007 3:27 PM Author: Beady-eyed clear tattoo Subject: what the letter actually says
I received my pass letter on Oct.3rd or 4th.
It says, "We are pleased to advise you that you have passed the July 2007 Illinois Bar Examination."
I received a seperate letter on Oct. 18 that says, "We are pleased to advise you that your application has been recommended for certification by the Committee on Character and Fitness."
And thankfully, my mbe met or exceeded the requirements to waive into DC. That too was a seperate letter from the National Conference of Bar Examiners.
Both arrived in plain white envelopes.
If you have not received it by now, I would call the Board of Examiners. Maybe they have the incorrect address for you.

Hey, does anyone know how long the admission ceremony in Chicago is likely to last (i.e., how long it's lasted in years past)? I'd like to make lunch reservations, but I have no idea what time we'll be done down there.

The results have been online for over a month now, but they don't list names, only numbers. You won't be able to check your friend's results unless you know his number. So far as I know, IL doesn't release names at all.
Anyway, so no one has any idea how long this shindig is likely to go on?

I hear it's between an hour and an hour and 30 min. Guess it is going to depend on our speaker.
Hope it is not to long!
