Al-Farabi and Avicenna were pretty legit. One other guy I'm forgetting.
Otherwise, yeah pretty much, they did preserve the knowledge of the ancient world, but didn't add all that much. Some solid architecture, but it mostly emerged from Byzantium or Greco-Roman styles.
There was one or two decent medical dudes, but they were basically writing commentaries on Galen.
Also, what did any of this have to do with Islam? Most of the decent ones were condemned as blasphemers at some point.
It's like claiming Leonardo Da Vinci is part of THe Great Catholic Golden Age

Doesn't surprise me.
The thing people don't realize is that like medieval philosophy, theology and philosophy were still intermingled.
The whole "Islamic Golden Age" is imagined. It has very little to do with Islam. Reminds me of Afrocentrism too, with its exagerrated accomplishments

Algebra guy right? Great preserver of the Hindu numeral system, etc, etc. Yeah I think that was the third I was thinking of.
There's 3 biggies who were polymaths.
Everyone else was writing footnotes to Plato/Aristotle/Galen/Euclid. They were capable scholars, but they were hardly innovators. Many barely understood what they were reading in any real sense.
Also, "science" is a misnomer. They were alchemists.

cr
the major accomplishments of the past 2,000 years from the arab world are:
head-chopping off techniques
how to stab your kids
how to stone your wife when she leaves without permission
how to fuck goats

TBF, this meme is retarded. The "dark ages" were pretty shitty in the West and mostly a TTT and the Islamic thinkers preserved much of Aristotle/Greece/Byzantium until the west started to emerge from TTT-dom circa late 11th early 12th century-ish, but Medieval Europe had its share (more than the Islamic World) after that during the High Middle Ages which was largely sparked by contact w/the Arabs during the crusades.
The Medieval Christians produced about as much of value as Medieval Islam (which is to say, not all that much). Much of it centers on bizarre logics, theology, and metaphysics, just like these thinkers.
But HMA had William of Ockham, Peter of Lombard, Lull, Albertus Magnus, Aquinas, etc etc. After that, it was all downhill for the Arabs.
Medieval mnemonics was when the art reached its peak for the most part. Of course, in this more immediate age, the importance of such endeavors is largely lost.

Fair, the Carolingian Rennaissance didn't apply all that much to reading and writing. Also, well before when I'm talking about. People back then actually ascribed magical powers to reading and writing (kind of like how Boomers think of teh interweb today, except moreso)
The Dark Ages were dark. Charlemagne was illiterate. His level of "education" was comparable to that of about a kindergartener today.
Once we hit the crusades, things looked up for the West
