Can I get an apology for gamer gate now?

Date: September 28th, 2018 2:18 PM Author: crusty drab ticket booth cuck When gamergate was happening, I posted that it is a big deal because the media was deeply biased, and the SJW “women-as-victims” narrative was unfairly and visciously destroying the gaming culture.
At the time, the only response I got was that only neckbeards could give a shit, and that the lying media SJW narrative was not a real problem, but a delusion for losers. Everyone said that SJWs were a niche movement, and would not have any impact on the broader culture.
Is anyone willing to admit now, that perhaps gamers were the canary in the coalmine? |

Entire internet exploded because gamers dared to question the integrity of the gaming press after finding out that good reviews could be bought for sexual favors. Gamers were accused of misogyny to deflect from the fact that the gaming press was a dishonest cesspit of fake news.
A woman named Anita Sarkeesian made a YouTube channel dedicated exclusively to denigrating gaming culture, and calling all video games “rape simulators”. Gamers got upset and some sent her mean tweets. She used the mean tweets to rile up the national media against video game culture.
The national media went crazy, twisted the entire narrative, and made the story far more confusing so people couldn’t follow it, and default to a position that women are being abused. Many people fell for the fake news, and assumed that all gamers must be rapists because the media said so. |

There was a pattern: SJWs would make unsubstantiated victimhood claims, and the targets of such claims would capitulate and apologize, because that was the socially acceptable thing to do.
Gamergaters were high-functioning autists, and their entire lives revolves around gaming. When their hobby was attacked by SJWs, they did not have the social acumen to gracefully apologize and submit to the SJW agenda. They fought back, and called out the media for lying.
Gamergaters did not win, but they fought the SJWs to a stalemate. Some gaming media sites were actually shut down, and some SJWs lost their jobs. It was the first mass demonstration that the internet could rally against SJWs in a meaningful way.
Gamergate was not the only movement that opened the door to today’s anti-SJW movements, but it was historically significant. Gamergate pioneered organized meme warfare, which was used to great success by Donald Trump’s supporters in 2016. Pepe the frog was a result of gamergate. “Fake News” is today’s analogue to “bias in games journalism”, a much clunkier catchphrase from gamergate. Much of the energy behind Trumps campaign and the rise against cuckery was driven by the cultural forces unleashed in gamergate. |
