And let's not even fucking forget the difficulty and expense curve of actually occupying a country in an effort to put the "right" guys in power and then keep them there.
If we help topple, we are essentially locked in to trying to stabilize for at least a few years

For example, the fact that China has over a billion people and Taiwan has under 30 million is a pretty significant fact when we're talking about "defending Taiwan against China." Similarly, the reason Ukraine is fucked against Russia is that they're simply running out of warm bodies, and the population difference is much smaller than Taiwan vs China. If Iran had 20 million people then a war against them would be a much easier undertaking than their current population. Israel is struggling against largely unarmed people in Gaza who number in the 2-3 million range. In short, numbers matter.
But ultimately, it exposes that Cruz is a mouthpiece selling Israeli interests and neither knows nor cares about the substance. |
