is it gud
heard the long-term vets of the series still prefer Civ4 or 5

it's terrible
I really liked civ 6 actually -- it's funny that a lot of the gamer retards prattle on about how 5 is the best in the series but in reality 6 is extremely similar to 5, just with some extra stuff tacked on. 5 was a huge change from 4, but 6 was very incremental compared to 5
civ 7 changes the core gameplay loop though and it's terrible. basically the game is now divided in to three periods, and at the end of each period your tech tree resets/is fast forwarded. units are auto-upgraded. etc. the problem is none of the periods last long enough to really feel like you've done anything, the whole mechanism is just implemented really poorly and destroys the most core mechanic of civ, incremental progression via the tech tree+units
it has a bunch of other problems but so did every other civ game at launch I've ever played (4 for example was unplayable for the first year). but the shift in core gameplay loop is just a terrible decision that can't be fixed

this
there are a lot of very very good mods for civ 5 that essentially make it into entirely new games (which are significantly better than the original game)
i'm a civ 5 enjoyer btw although i don't play anymore, or at least haven't for a while

dude, i remember back in the heyday (while on obligatory prescription meth, of course) playing for the first time a single civ5 game (22 civ max, all city-states) literally almost 96 hours straight.
i almost died, but this was probably the last time gaming was 180 in a frutiger aero-sense. that is, the inherited optimism and aesthetics from the late 90's to early aught's.
bioshock infinite just came out, diablo 3 about to be released before people trashed it (and blizzard, once considered like the HBO of gaming) indefinitely, half-life source games/mods although losing steam still going strong (CS:S, L4D2, DoD:S), call of duty peaked (Modern Warfare 1/2).
today and now, in every fantasy franchise/license games to films; female characters are all contractually obligated to look like Lupita Nyong'o or worse while you're squinting and shifting thru which MTX currency type from the game store allows you chop off your pink polka-dot cock because it offended a server GM and ended up getting you banned.

I wish there were fewer difficulty levels with civ games.
I like all the exploration & planning stuff... but I want to curbstomp the cpu opponents so bad, I play on easy levels.
Any setback at all pisses me off

just get good at it until you can curbstomp on medium difficulty
the difficulty levels (at least in civ vi) don't correspond to better or worse AI, it just gives the AI different levels of handicap. e.g. on easy modes you get a slight bump in unit strength in battles, and on deity the ai civs get extra settlers and units. it doesn't change the ai's decision making.
so gameplay isn't fundamentally different on different difficulty levels, you're just giving either yourself or the AI a boost. if you're not a beginner and you're good enough to beat the AI in general then medium difficulty shouldn't be a problem.

One of the U.S. leaders is Harriet Tubman.
Even if the game were good I’m not buying that woke garbage.
