Make him read law school transparency, law school numbers, the SullCrom bag thread, the article about working at Latham in the boom times, and xo in general.
At least he'll know what he's getting into in the best case scenario.

He would fuck over not only his life, but his wife's life and the lives of his four kids, there is no way he should go to law school.
EDIT: LOL at this fucking flame.

UPDATE: Spoke with brother-in-law last night. Told him flat out that he is likely making a very big mistake. Told him that this mistake can literally tear his family apart and destroy his finances, and all he has to do is run some simple numbers and go online to see what I'm talking about.
He looked at me as if I had two heads. He is in complete denial about the legal job market overall (shitlaw, non-existent mid-law, biglaw) thinks he will have a very good shot at biglaw coming from a tier 3 school, assuming he even gets in to such a school, and doesn't really care or know about the structural shift within biglaw re hiring/layoffs etc.
I'm trying to be a good bro-in-law and have him open his eyes a bit to see what's really going on, but he just refuses to see things realistically.

Some people just have it ingrained in their head that they won't really believe it until it gets beaten into them.
Can you point him to TLS and ask him to poast what he's thinking of doing? The kids there will tear him to shreds.
Also send him to jdunderground and Law School Transparency.
With his numbers how can he even get into a TTT? He has shitty shitty numbers and will have to pay sticker at a TTTT or something

Yes, I already pointed him to jdunderground but he says these websites are full of losers who never had a chance at employment to begin with. I kinda just stared right at him, and almost blurted out that he is and will end up in an even worse position.
He's been studying for over two years now for the LSAT and plans to take it in June, which is when LSAC erases his old scores. He's been scoring in the low 160's on practice tests but I guarantee he will buckle under the pressure of test day and bomb it once again.
I guess what really bothers his wife and my wife, his sister, is the fact that he wants to throw away his career at his age in order to get into a uber competitive saturated legal market. He has a very decent job, pays about high 5 or low 6 figures, good benefits, 9 to 5, and the possibility of moving up the corporate ladder (I admit this takes a long time but still it's there and something worth considering) but he is hellbent on making this career change.

How is he testing in low 160's now after scoring like 150 4 freaking times?
I bet you he is lying about his scores/and or not really timing properly.
If he actually gets in the 160s he could go part time for cheapish on scholly and work to save money I guess

Of course insane.
Why not try and convince him to do a PT MBA instead, which could be useful given his analyst position in (re)insurance.

You're obviously free to think it's flame or not - I don't really care whether you do or don't. If you don't believe me, then fine, don't. Not sure what you want me to say.
W/R/T/ to his motivations and background - he's been in reinsurance for quite some time now as some sort of analyst. He says he's been dealing with some contracts and legal issues relating to work for the past 2.5 years and has met some inhouse lawyers, too, and this peaked his interest in becoming a lawyer. I don't know how reinsurance companies work or what analysts do there, or if he's telling me the truth or bs'ing me, but this is what I've been told. I politely suggested to him to get some professional insurance designation like a cpcu or some other crap but he thinks its ttt.
