But as the decade winds to a close, it's appropriate to take stock of what the previous decade has offered, and AutoAdmit is no exception. With that, we at Pitchspork have decided to compile a list of the Top 200 Threads of the Decade. Don't bother to complain or lobby. We've already finished the list. And we probably left out a thread or two at the margins, and we probably overrated or underrated a thread in our idiosyncratic list of preferences. But this is just one take. At the end, we'll have a Conclusion thread for you to weigh in. The threads that are "top" may be influential, humorous, or famous. They may be legendary for their subject, for the conversation within, for a bump, or for an epic pwnage within. You'll see some threads on the same subject, and other threads you probably never saw in the first place. That's why we culled through hundreds of thousands of threads to narrow it down to the top 250, and chopped 50 off of that. There's a definite trend at AutoAdmit. Formerly epic threads were mostly conversation-driven, frequently lengthy, with a random subject attracting significant attention. In the present, however, there's more of a focus on a single-shot subject of comedy, or a one-liner pwnage in the comments below. You can see the shift over time as you click through the threads. We tried to reach a little of everything, but we had our limits. We avoided some of the more popular forced memes of dog torturers, cornflakes, and drunk drivers. We limited content from sources lost in the sands of time, like nullos and shiteaters. And, sorry to say, we didn't import any PR material (that means you, Chicago ranters). Sadly, some threads are edited, and others the mods deleted. Those are so designated. Stay tuned. |
