And it was closed because they close 3 hours early on "holidays".
We pull up (its like 7 pm) and I'm all, "Oh, look honey, not too many cars, I think we'll be seen right away."
I drag her 6-year-old half-black ass out of the car, walk up to the door and finally realize it WOULD have been open if not for the fact it was a holiday, or that MLK was ever born, or however you want to look at it.
My point is that it was MLK's birthday, my half-black daughter is sick, and the fucking URGENT CARE, is closed. Ain't that some shit.
So we went to the Kaiser ER, where we DON'T have insurance because after the federal subsidies ended, my health insurance was going to go from $800 to $2200 and my black wife and I said fuck that.
So this ER visit will cost me around the same for one month's health insurance premium.
The ER waiting room was PACKED. I got my little black girl a wheelchair thingy and positioned myself as far away from the proles as possible.
The triage nurse came around and I wish you bros could have seen her eyes when I told her "our insurance lapsed."
It was an equal mix of surprise, disgust, and hatred, I think. Maybe the disgust and hatred are intertwined, I don't know, I'm a doctor of law, not psychology.
So anyways, back to my black kid. Half-black, if we are going to be technical.
She's fine, she just has the flu, Influenza A.
I kind of exaggerated her symptoms to jump the line and we were in and out within an hour.
Oh, I have the flu too, it sucks.
