About Me: When I’m not watching heroes in tights chase villains in bad face paint, I’m usually buried in a textbook. Yes, I’m one of those sick people who enjoys schoolwork. My family moved around a lot when I was younger, so I did not attend school very often. Once, I went an entire year without seeing the inside of a classroom! I remember taking an IQ test, scoring 140, and my family somehow deciding I didn’t really need formal education as much as most children. Instead, my mom handed me a library card and said “have at it!” then proceeded to load our suitcases into the car. Did I mention I have a ton of un-returned library books? =^/ Life finally settled down when I entered high school, and I have been a geek with my nose in a textbook ever since. Alas, even if I was smart back when I was seven-years-old, I doubt that fact will help me in law school. From what I have heard, compared to most other types of academic learning, law school is a different beast entirely. Moreover, I chose the alias IvyLife because I am sure life “in the league” will be worlds away from anything I am used to."

Yes, I see you smiling at me. You say hello, I say hello back. I walk up to the bar alone and you take the opportunity to come say hello again. You’re cute and I’m a little drunk. A perfect combination. Being a guy in your mid-twenties, you necessarily have nothing interesting to say, but I’m mildly entertained by your wanton use of cliched movie quotes. I start looking anxiously at the bartender, the only one on shift, giving her The Eye. Hurry up, please, I mentally beg her. All seems well until your eyes fall to my chest level and you exclaim, “WOW, are those D’s???” I’m in disbelief. I reply, “Are you seriously talking about my CHEST?!” His tongue literally hanging out of his mouth, he replies, “They’re HUGE!” And where is my God-damn drink! Bartender’s tip is shrinking with each passing sweep of his bulging eyes toward my chest. After an eternity, she places my Malibu and diet on the bar, I plunk down my $7 and return to the back corner where my friends are waiting.

Increasingly, the days are defined by how much time I can waste on Facebook while still getting my mountain of work done. I have zero motivation. My head is so out of the game, it’s in the next state. It does help, though, that so far this month the weather has reached epic levels of horrendousness. I’m not missing much outside. I might as well be at work all day.

I’ve been a zombie all week because my Monday night’s sleep was marred by horrific thunder at 3AM. Seriously. One thunder clap was so loud that it set off all the car alarms in a 5 block radius. It was terrifying.

There’s a fight going on in the comment stem of my latest T14 post. Someone left what I considered a snotty/patronizing response to my post and my decision to assume the debt that CLS will require. I didn’t want to get into it so soon into T14’s life so I was happy to see someone else do my dirty work. The fact that whoever this person is chose UT over CLS because of the debt doesn’t bother me. Faced with the same option, I might do the same thing. Some states (Texas, California, Virginia for example) are lucky to have top tier public law schools. But New York is not one of those states. It’s a personal decision and I happen to think that CLS is worth it.

It also annoyed me that he/she chose to lecture me about “laying off the alcohol.” Not that I feel particularly compelled to justify my life choices to whoever this is, but I wasn’t ACTUALLY drinking anything while I wrote that, let alone a whole bottle of wine. I wrote it at work. I just thought it would inject a little humor into an otherwise sobering (ha!) post.

One good thing did come of the whole thing. It inspired my next T14 topic. I think I’m going to write about unsolicited advice. I think it’s something a lot of 0Ls can relate to.
