Date: May 27th, 2025 1:43 PM Author: Lime Aphrodisiac Home In terms of personal finance it’s the equivalent of making 300k in CA and 375k in NYC, ie just enough money to buy a house and if you’re frugal you can also put money toward retirement savings or college savings, at least as long as you don’t have unforeseen expenses.
In terms of QoL it’s worse than most other cities its size and more comparable to a smaller city like Cleveland or Omaha, ie there are cool things you can find and if you put effort into thing-doing and making friends and/or dating you can build a decent life there, but it is a pretty boring place to live generally speaking. The Keep San Antonio Lame shirts were so perfect. |
|
Date: May 27th, 2025 1:53 PM Author: Smoky provocative legend senate This is cr. San Antonio is actually a very nice overall place to live. The problem is that it is ruthlessly boring. The people there are a level of prole that XO cannot comprehend. I doubt the average person there has even ever heard of Harvard college let alone could tell you what it was. It is one of the most salt of the Earth lunchpail type of places you'll ever go. Fancy restaurants fail because no one likes stuff that's too pretentious.
There is a reason why people pay out the ass to live in Austin. Partly the inherent beauty of the hill country it's the nicest place in Texas by a mile. But more importantly it has some semblance of culture and worldliness you couldn't find in San Antonio if you dedicated your entire life to finding it. |

Date: May 27th, 2025 5:27 PM Author: Smoky provocative legend senate The NBA guys are in their own world. They travel so much and see so much of the country. Also every single NBA player summers in LA every year together. The whole league descends on Hollywood where they all rent party houses and train. So it's no more or less weird than Ant being in Minnesota or whatever. Most of these guys grow to hate the small markets which is why so many go to the Lakers and Heat eventually. Date: May 27th, 2025 5:54 PM Author: Lime Aphrodisiac Home The small market thing is old man brain from broadcast/boomer paradigm days. Ant, Ja and Wemby are the three biggest young stars (ie they have top tier endorsement opportunities, which pays way more than their max contract opportunities) with either Hali or SGA on the verge of joining that group or arguably a half tier down (especially Hali). All are in small markets and it doesn’t matter because the only criteria that matter for endorsements and brands are clicks and views on social media et al. Wemby would be stupid to leave SA as long as their front office continues to build smartly around him and luck into super high draft picks. The only thing that matters in terms of his legacy in the sport and endorsements now is winning. Ant could definitely leave MN and Ja could leave Memphis bc both of those front offices are staffed entirely with drooling retards. I was not suggesting that Wemby leave. Just that his experience of living in San Antonio is not normal and he probably spends a lot of time in LA like most players do. |

Date: May 27th, 2025 8:28 PM Author: Lime Aphrodisiac Home For sure. The Tim Duncan generation of weirdos were the only NBA players who ever liked San Antonio, even a couple of non-autists like Ginobili. That’s presumably why Tony Parker had to fuck Brent Barry’s wife so he could get the hell out of there. He was like a chadly euro going to CalTech. Houston traffic is a nightmare. There is just no comparison. But lets just say you work from home.
With that salary, I'd probably rent somewhere like this:

North San Antonio is pretty. Austin is shit until you get toward the far west side in terms of aesthetics.
You are literally 5 minutes away from Neiman Marcus to buy $100 T-shirts and there is every kind of big box globo amenity that you could ask for within 15 minutes.
Great golf course < 5 minutes. You could probably walk to it if you wanted to. World class deer/axis hunting within 45 minutes. Get in a share of a lease. The real pretty part of hill country like Utopia within an hour. Rivers within an hour or less. Gardner State Park - about an hour.
There are a lot of lower class Mexicans in the city, but you get all types. A lot of "coconuts" (brown on the outside, white on the inside) in San Antonio. And as I said, plenty of solid white bitches still up north. 45 minutes from Bandera which has a cool little music scene (all White; but can be an older/married crowd). Get over to Canyon Lake with some buds in 45 minutes. |

Plus there's way fewer trannies, Indians, and shitlibs out that way compared to West Austin. It has a more conservative culture. Or you could move to New Braunfels which is God fearing af. West Austin has way more shitlibs and blue hairs. North SA/Comal County is the conservative version of Austin. The only true downside is you don't get Dat Intellectualism. Again your eyes will glaze over with extreme boredom at every conversation UNLESS you are prole too then it doesn't matter. |

Date: May 27th, 2025 6:54 PM Author: cerebral orchestra pit reading party What I always liked about San Antonio is that you can do Mexican-cholo slumming if you want; you can do coconut Mexican if you want, and you can get around white people with decent German culture if you want (Boerne/Fredericksburg/Bandera/Gruene Hall). These are not redneck trash type people, of course they are around (it's Texas), but these are the type of people you can get drunk with and be safe. They are not Austin shitlib dorks. Date: October 27th, 2026 11:13 AM Author: gentle jack jones If you add a wife making 50k or some good investments you live in the 09. Your kids go to school with the children of executives and oil money. Your neighbors are lawlyers or doctors or real estate gurus. You go golfing every weekend cause the weather is always nice and it never snows. You hit it up the coast or a million different river towns during summer. Pool in backyard cause you can buy a nice house for $6-700k in the best school district. Spurs playoff games. If you have a parent that will help pay you send them to $30k year woke leftist school (and now they are friends with trust fund kids)
On a rare occasion you go downtown and party it up with Mexicans, otherwise you stay in your bubble and get drunk at the local dive bars or Mexican restaurant. If you marry a local or make good friends you can get an in to the country club.
It is upper class life for people that would likely make middle class money in other places but if you don’t have the right manners you will be just a rich douche who every1 hates
If you live in another part of town besides the 09 you are either surrounded by proles, beaners, or rich Mexican nationals (they will try to kiss up to you if you are white but they have a different sense of common decency/3rd world rich) this is what the other comments allude to.
Also new braunfels is being taken over by retirees and when you go to a bar there it’s about 50 people and 45 are white so maybe you should just move there |
