But let's not lose sight of the important thing, here: Mike Pence is an absolute monster who believes that homosexuality is an aberration and homosexuals should consider therapy. That's basically all you need to know about him. Who cares about any other policy positions he might hold? We need to assess and condemn him on that metric alone. What a fucking asshole.

I agree, it's terrifying. Were I a gay man, I would gladly trade places with a homosexual man living in Havana in the 1960s, given the option. Sure, Fidel had his flaws, but he was a complicated man who also achieved positive results in some areas. There is a lot to admire when you take a proper, holistic view of his legacy.

By contrast, Mike Pence is a shameful homophobic bigot who does not respect gays, and that is simply inexcusable and horrifying. Full stop. Given the chance, he may even try to oppress that community using the power of the state, which is an absolutely horrifying prospect for which we cannot forgive him.
