You go in and are treated like any other grunt. I.e. if you get cut due to "Ranger Roulette" you're still fucked and take on 1M in debt (paid back over 10 years)
You have three months to prepare; however, you have to front the money for any training you want to get (i.e., weapons training)

With only four days of Florida patrols left, Special Forces veteran Nicholas Carchidi has yet to earn the go he needs. He was frustrated to get a no-go in an earlier field exercise, likely the result of a mistake made by one of his subordinates. This illustrates an unavoidable reality of Ranger School: though the RIs use a standardized leadership-evaluation scorecard, there’s always a degree of subjectivity, and judging isn’t an exact science. Frustrated students use the phrase “RI roulette” to refer to conditions they can’t control, which can have an impact on your chances for success. For example, leading a platoon of well-rested students in beautiful weather could be more likely to yield a positive result than taking an exhausted platoon through a driving rainstorm with weak squad leaders.

the chances i get injured would be too high to make it worth the risk
but if i didn’t get injured i’d probably pass. it’s not like bud/s where 80% drop out

I'm guessing they give females more slack due to pressure from above
Do you think you could pass it as is now without any prep time?
Also do you think you could go straight through now or would you probably have to recycle

-Volunteer to carry the heavy weapons (M240B, M249).
-Politic with the peer evals (make sure the guy you rank #1 is returning the favor)
-Know when the RIs are looking so you can steal some sleep. Alternatively, know when the RIs aren’t letting you start your priorities of work because your patrol base is about the be ambushed
-if you don’t see weapons, don’t shoot the guys walking through your ambush
-there are no civilian vehicles in play, so if you see some on your objective, you’re in the wrong place
-eat all of your food as soon as you get it; holding onto peanut butter packets or DOGEX goodies will just get you recycled when they inspect rucks or lockers.

That's a negative, Ghost Rider. I'm too old for this kind of shit.
If I was in my 20's, absolutely. But now, LOL! I have no desire to starve and deprive myself of sleep for 60 days.
