Overall, I think that's a good value proposition, even if you graduate with a traditionally useless history, English, or anthropology degree. If you graduate with a useful degree, it's a very good move. She basically paid <1/4th Sticker.
Her mistakes were this:
1) Thinking she is too good for a job in Real Estate or Human Resources or something; 2) Deciding to get an "alternative" Master's Degree, in Scotland, about "studying social change."
She could've made a large dent in her loans, but instead decided to take on more and allow them to balloon. She apparently graduated in 2001, so she had about 5-7 years of economic prosperity in which to find a well-paying job to pay down her loans, but didn't. Life fail. |
