boomers knocked out a lot of traditional pathways to prosperity and out of check-cashing debt servitude that poors used to have, like starting at a low-wage job and "working your way up."

that's much tougher now, because those jobs are occupied by illegals, and credentialism means that boomer bosses won't take you seriously if you don't have multiple degrees. which of course takes debt...

i mean, wtf does it mean to castigate a "generation" of people? each generation is molded and shaped by the world they encounter. do we believe the "greatest generation" was somehow virtuous by right of birth, but millenials are intrisically lacking?

when i look in the eyes of boomers who have a beef with younger people, i see that they sincerely believe what they are saying, and that they believe they have done good in the world.

i guess this is our version of the "generation gap." there is a communication breakdown and the generations are talking hopelessly at cross purposes. likewise, we have and will continue to have blind-spots of our own.
