good -- from a practical standpoint, bringing a new corporate behemoth into a city that's already extremely expensive and crowded just sucks for most people there

well it wouldn't have been in a prime area and the metro population is so large that it seems like it could have absorbed it pretty easily. I don't think they ever wanted to be in NYC tbh and now just want to focus on Virginia, which was obviously where they wanted to be all along.
All the banks are leaving NYC. Medium term the city is actually rather fucked. We are moving 50,000 jobs to Delaware and Ohio from NY and NJ. UBS and one other bank are coming with us as we are building basically a tandem campus. They should be sucking Amazons dick because all the banker salaries that pay all the taxes are going to be history soon. And this isnt just back and middle office work going.
