You play with them in the yard, park, etc.? I had way more fun with monster trucks than the buggies. Buggies were the serious choice but you really need a track for them. Monster trucks you could have more fun with in the yard and around the house.

In the park. I had a 4WD model called a Coyote, don't remember who made it, but it was a royal pain in the ass to assemble. Later I got an RC-10, but I barely had time to use it before I went to college. Both were fun but the Coyote was a bitch to maintain.

I had Losi version of RC-10. Also had Traxxas Sledgehammer that was a lot more fun and less work to keep going. I really liked the whole process of building and maintaining. I’d paint the bodies, switch out the tires, had different motors and batteries, would be excited about a new servo. Had RC Car Action magazine subscription. Loved it.
