You can visit http://lawfirmaddict.blogspot.com to see which firms have reported what data. This thread will walk through statistics for placement in various regions. I don't care of the stats are poor because of low reporting in some areas, because if people cared about their firms, they'd have given the data. Therefore, those firms and their schools are TTTs.

The stats I have, while undercounting because some firms don't have stats available or have unknowns, also overcount split-summers not identified and 1Ls or 3Ls. Additionally, some people work at a firm 2L summer, then choose a smaller firm, public interest work, or a clerkship at graduation.

Thanks!

Any ideas why Columbia and Chicago seem to dominate (compared to their US News ranking)?

Columbia is in NYC where most top firms are. That probably accounts for some of it.

But what about Chicago? Do firms just think very highly of them? It doesn't seem to be historical prestige since Michigan does so poorly.

Chicago has a very small class compared to everywhere but Yale and every firm wants at least 1 or 2 chicago guys.

Why are we even using this? GTO's study has a much much better methodology. Dividing raw numbers class size (coupled with incomplete info) just doesn't mean anything.

Why doesn't it mean "something"? Unless you have a plausible theory what particular missing data is going to disfavor some school, the ranking does seem indicative about how well students are doing from various schools.

It's just a small snapshot for summer associates at V100 firms. It's not all-inclusive or anything. And it helps for similarly-situated schools--UCLA v. USC, for instance, or NYU v. Columbia
