they immediately had video of the type of car. it was a rare model owned by only ~10 people in the city. they quickly "interviewed" each of those car owners.

the car had identifying features visible in the video, so the cops should have been able to find the perp from that alone.

the kidnapper was among those interviewed. in his interview, he confessed to briefly picking up the chinese grad student but dropping her off somewhere shortly after. based off this testimony, the cops had to let him go because they didn't have sufficient evidence to keep him.

the only thing that was within their power was that they put him under surveillance, after which, on june 29, they finally got lucky when he blabbed about kidnapping and killing her to another person.

so now, july 1, and they finally "nabbed" the perp

oh what a victory for the american police force!

a fucking teenager could have solved this case (shut and closed) within a fucking day, if they had access to city vehicle records.

the chinese grad student should still be alive if not for the utter stupidity and ineptitude of the american police
