when told he was going to drop the AWA title to Nick Bockwinkel told the owner of the company "I gotta run it by Baba first" calls Baba. Baba says "no, we have you advertised defending on the next tour". Tells Verne and his son and Nick Bockwinkel "Baba says i'm defending the title in Japan. So I'm not dropping". and walks out of the arena in Denver WITH the title.
think about that for a second. and then takes the title, defends in japan. they get a cease and desist. they ignore it. finish the tour. he goes home. RUNS THE BELT OVER WITH HIS PICKUP TRUCK and then mails it to Verne.
that's just one of a hundred of those kinda stories. he's basically the baddest dude to ever work ever. and he got a japanese wife, that's the problem? |
