My boyfriend just got an offer -- how best to shop it?

The problem is, he hates both firms. He has about a 3.1 now. (We have a 3.2 median at Michigan.) Assuming he has at least one offer from a Vault firm b/w 50-75, and perhaps another one from a non-Vault 100 firm, how marketable will he be to better firms during 3L OCI? Any advice? An offer doesn't hurt, but with below-median grades he's very unlikely to be able to move up in the rankings at 3L OCI ... 3L OCI is usually supposed to be a bit more competitive than 2L, and it doesn't sound like he's added much in the way of grades/law-review/etc. in the intervening year. So he should look to move down the rankings to a firm he likes more. He might be able to move parallel or up if he can really sell himself as someone who's interested in and good at the particular area of law that he likes, but his best bets are probably lower-ranked firms. |
