You will receive $4M per highly venomous snake placed in your house. You can choose how many are placed. The snakes placed will be randomly selected adults from among the most lethal species of venomous snakes, such as mambas, taipans, and cobras.

Snakes will be placed at random in easily accessible areas of your home, such as in the middle of a room, on a couch, or under the kitchen table. You will not know where they are placed.

For the next 14 days, you must spend at least 22 hours a day inside your house.

For the rest of the year after that, you must spend at least 12 hours per day inside your house. You can take up to 10 days away for vacations and the like after the 60th day.

You can use anything you already have at your house, in your car, or on your person to trap, kill, lure, feed, or stay away from the snakes. You cannot buy or use any weapons, traps, snake repellant, mice, etc. that you don't already have.

After a year, the snakes don't automatically disappear, but the restrictions end. You can move, you can buy traps, hire a trapper, etc.

Do you accept? How many snakes are you getting? What's your strategy?

They can go weeks if not months without food and water. And how confident are you (a) that you don't have mice around for them to eat and hydrate with and (b) that they won't just head outside, take up residence in your yard, and live like kings cobra there until they bite you?

I'll take like 100. First thing I'm going is to put on two pairs of sweats and then a pair of jeans over them. Maybe some thick snow pants if I can find them. Put on some boots too and duct tape the pants to the boots so no snakes can get it. Then i"ll just go looking for them and stomp them out until all 100 are dead

FWIW:

Can snake fangs penetrate leather boots?

Some snake fangs can penetrate leather boots, but it depends on the size and breed of the snake and the thickness of the leather.

https://www.internationalleatherclub.com/can-snakes-bite-through-leather-boots/

And I hope you don't lay down with exposed skin somewhere.

A snake has no chance at all in a fight with a human equipped with normal household stuff. I take probably five snakes, send the wife and kids out of the house and kill them all in the first two hours.

How will you find them? And what makes you think you'll be ready to hit it with a shovel or whatever before it catches you off guard and strikes?

And even if you spot it first, some of these snakes can strike 4 or 5 feet away.

I don’t know shit about exotic venomous snakes (maybe they are more aggressive?) but domestic varieties (rattlesnakes, water moccasins, copperheads) can be easily dispatched with a garden hoe

Edit: on reflection, I’m thinking about smallish snakes I’ve killed. No way would I try to be chopping the head off some 9 foot long monster rattler with a hoe

Almost all of these snakes are very large. This is an advantage because they can't hide in unlimited places.

Mambas are very aggressive, cobras are aggressive when provoked, but most of the others are not. Open every door and cabinet with the hoe, shoot any you find. You'd be fine.

It's plausible with 1 or 2 snakes. Wear boots and several pairs of pants. Sleep in a hammock. Always carry a shovel. Hope you can bop them before they get you.

LJL at succeeding with more than a couple snakes. One of them would catch you unawares from a dark nook.

Also, luring them to a certain place seem possible. Crank the AC. Drain the toilets. Put a space heater, bowl of water, and food in one place. Watch there.

The first thing I would do is turn the AC down as cold as possible. Then I would take heating pads (anyone who has dated a woman has a collection of these) and place them in the corner of each room. Presumably the cold snakes would go to the heating pads at which point I would shoot them with 12 gauge bird shot.

I would wear puffy jacket and ski pants and put my logger boots on. Then I would put on duck coveralls. That’s enough padding I think I would be able to have a chance to not get bit with a strike. I would wear my welding gauntlets. I also have a full face landscaping helmet which would protect my face.

I'll take 5. I copy the above ideas about how to dress, and go hunting them with a 12-gauge. With $20MM tax free, I'll fix up the holes I leave before I sell the place.

During the first year, no, you have to keep the house intact and live in it.

After the first year, go ahead.

Do you have hamsters and squirrels to throw at them? You can try to trap some in your yard. You can't buy any that you don't already have.

You could leave the door open and hope the snakes leave, but then you'd probably have deadly snakes in your yard until mid winter or beyond.

you could easily put a live snaketrap at each entrance with a gorgeous rodent inside as a lure, then relocate the snakes to the zoo or op's house until he pays up

CR in Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston the villian has a 180 scheme to kill his wife with a rattlesnake and step one is to feed it three frogs (to be fair it backfires on him and he gets killed by the rattlesnake, spoiler alert). We have straight up bunny rabbits in my neighborhood. Would sign up for at least 5 snakes, maybe 10, as that would be 1 per room, but I think 20M tax free is plenty of money for me and my family for the rest of my days. Catch rabbits, feed snakes and induce food coma, shoot each with handgun, beat with shovel to confirm dead. Play video games and order uber eats until 1 year is up.

Do I get to decide when the hypo begins? If so, this is an easy one. Snakes are cold blooded, so they have no ability to regulate their temperature. Cold temperatures are extremely dangerous for them. I'd wait until the middle of winter and turn off the heat in the house for a couple days until it is below freezing inside the house. Once I do that, worst-case scenario is that the snakes go into brumation immediately and are no threat. That will get me through the 14-day critical period until I can get some weapons and protective gear to exterminate them. Best case scenario is that they all freeze to death and die instantly.

Even during the summer, if you turn the air conditioner on full blast nonstop, you can probably get the house cold enough that they won't bother you. In my case, I have a couple old window AC units. If I turned the central AC on full blast and put the window AC units on the windows in the smallest bedroom, it will probably be cold enough that the snakes won't come in there.

The hypo starts immediately, no time for prep. Do you already have the weapons you want? Are you in?

You don't need weapons, just chemicals. If you drain your car radiator you've got ethylene glycol, which tastes sweet. You can put tap water in your car radiator in the meantime and it will run fine. That's off the top of my head.

For the last couple maybe few decades coolant has a bittering agent so animals don’t drink it.

If I can't prep and I have no idea what species the snake will be, then I think I am out. According to Wikipedia, a black mamba will not tolerate the presence of humans within about 40 meters. Apparently, they can also strike from several meters away, jump up into the air, and climb. If one bites you, there is a 100% chance of death with no antivenom. Even with antivenom, the chance of death is like 10% (and I have no idea if any local ER carries black mamba antivenom). Despite all of that, even a black mamba will most likely slither out of the house rather than attack me if I leave the doors open, but I don't want to take that risk. (And if "no time for prep" means I can't even open the doors and windows, then it is hard "no.")

If I were allowed to see how cold my house gets with AC running full blast and call the local ER to see if they have black mamba antivenom, then I would consider it. And if the hypo were altered so that I was guaranteed no black mambas, then I would lean toward accepting one or two of them. From what I have read, most other venomous species will not attack humans unless significantly provoked. Even the black mamba prefers to retreat rather than bite, but it can be very aggressive when cornered, which would presumably be the case if it is inside my house.

I would take 5-10 because I don't have need for any more money.

I would dress in protective gear and do a full clear on the upper floor of my house, which wouldn't be very hard. The upper floor is where I would live for the duration of this, and use it as a base while each room of the lower floor is cleared and sealed off one by one.

I have a telescoping pool pole that can go up to 16 feet, with a hook on the end to scoop the robot out of the pool. For the smaller/faster snakes, I would just use it to pin them from a distance, then use my hand to pick them up (gripping them behind the head):

https://www.wikihow.com/images/thumb/5/51/Handle-Poisonous-Snakes-Step-7-Version-2.jpg/v4-460px-Handle-Poisonous-Snakes-Step-7-Version-2.jpg

I would put them in pillowcases and tie them shut for their safety. For the larger/slower snakes, I would make gigantic snake bags by folding sheets together and stitching them, then put the bags inside a huge garbage can. I would use the hook on the pool pole to scoop the large snakes into the can, then tie the giant snake bags shut.

Once I had all of the snakes safely tied up in their breathable bags, I would take them all to GujarTTT's house and let them go. If things got hairy, I have a electric pole saw that extends up to 20 feet, but I would try to preserve them all to leave the maximum number for GujarTTT.

Explain how you do this "full clear." You're going to miss some snakes or they'll bite you if you get close enough to see them.

The big ones that can strike from a long distance can't hide very well. The ones that could be well-hidden will be small. And like I said, I would make protective gear. Cut up some plastic storage bins into rectangles and tape them all around my legs and arms as body armor.

I'll take a dozen or so. Snakes crave heat, so I would make one room much warmer than all others. I would put diatomaceous earth on the floor in the doorway so I could see whether any slithered in, and I would put a shallow floor liner on the floor, the kind you use for potted plants, and fill it with antifreeze, so that any snakes entering the room will have to slither through an 18 inch moat of antifreeze. The diatomaceous earth will help me count how many snakes have entered the room and what size they are. I would also set up a raspberry pi with a camera and use it as a motion detector, or I could use a laptop with a webcam, but I would stay clear of the doorway so I don't spook the snakes.

10 snakes

my current house has very limited places for them to hide, and the best place for them to hide is inside some storage tubs that already currently have lids on them. I keep a pistol, a machete, and a curtain rod on me and I start hunting until I find them. If I don't kill them all on day 1, I cut one open and leave it on the floor in my kitchen. They'll smell the blood and come looking. I wait on the table until they come out. Not going anywhere without heavy boots on, and opening everything with the curtain rod.

Elevating my kitchen table and sleeping on it until I get them all. Closing all windows and doors to contain them, because I don't want one living around here. Cranking AC to as cold as possible so they don't get active.

Definitely get em all within a week, probably get most or all on day 1 because all I'm going to do is hunt for them.

Seems easy. Hide out in the bathroom and call someone who specializes in removing snakes. Offer to pay them a substantial sum (maybe $100k) if they come in the next hour and retrieve all the snakes. Not sure if this violates the hypo but it doesn’t specify.

I’d probably do three because that would be well past what would be required for me to retire.
