you have to consider that people making this are a) always buying cheap used import cars with around 70k miles that are easy to fix, b) never ever considering private schools (hell, getting into an ivy would be the best thing--they wouldn't pay a dime), c) spending SIGNIFICANTLY less than most xoers do on takeout and going out to eat. if proles eat out it's usually fast food, maybe go to a restaurant once every couple weeks.
you're taking home about 45k on 60k married with kids, and a 170k mortgage is probably about 1200/mo. it's more than doable to actually own a home on this salary in are country and build a little equity. obviously expensive metros are different, where you rent paycheck to paycheck and just have to save what you can. |

in reality, most people, including most of our middle class parents, understand and understood that they would have to work shitty jobs to pay the bills until their mid-to-late 60s, and then retire with decent security if not luxury.
you make intense sacrifices when you have kids and have to learn to run a serious household budget. $60K isn't much and it means poverty if coupled with kids in our society. but millions of people are living within these means. it's just a different standard of expectation and a lifestyle that most of the idiotic neckbeard gamers and ugly, unremarkable lawyers on ZoZo are too myopic to comprehend. xoxohth. |
