In hindsight the "craft beer" movement destroyed the aura of beer which went from a normal working class dad thing to a fat star wars/disney adult bearded chungus liberal bearded sex pest MLS fan redditor urbanist YIMBY guy hobby quaffing huge Hazy Israel Pale Ales

We just needed a normal good crisp pilsner without corn syrup in it. Millennials went too far.

that shit also got really expensive really quickly, which kind of killed its appeal for young people with tight finances. demanding $8.99+ for a single bottle of microbrew was too much to ask.

traditional american piss beer of the 90s needed nuking. the traditional path of american men looked like this:

hs/college: natty light, milwaukee's best

young man: bud / mgd

middle to old man: bud light

all were just variations on the same tasteless junk

compare that to germany where at oktoberfest you get 4 or 5 flavorful, interesting beers that are still easy drinking.

of course the craft beer movement went overboard and the current taste for hazy and ultra-hopped stuff went too far. but the status quo of the 90s was awful

it's not like young people are drinking vodka sodas because they're the least caloric way to get drunk. they're avoiding alcohol altogether and getting high on weed.

gen z doesn't have an anti-beer attitude; it's a widespread anti-alcohol position because alcohol is expensive.
