i think it's worth mentioning that reputation defender is much more of a PR firm than any kind of legal representation. I don't know why they don't state on their website that they aren't providing legal representation; if they are representing them then why do they make TONS of legal threats all the time but never say that they are counsel for Heide Iravani or Brittan Heller (as may apply)?
Also, if they aren't providing actual legal representation then what basis do they have for threatening legal action? why should anyone take them seriously unless they are legal counsel for Heide Iravani and/or Brittan Heller?
It just seems all confused

A restraining order can reflect badly on the students involved, but not really on the college. It's not something that a newspaper would write about, unless a violent incident were involved.
You are correct, though, that colleges often try to manage such matters internally. This is more out of an interest in protecting their students' futures than in avoiding negative publicity. Usually what happens is that the student is advised to stay away from the other person and barred from entry into that person's dorm.
If you care to know, I've never had an internal restraining order against me either, nor did I ever do anything that would cause me to have PNG status at any dorm. I've been kicked out of hostels, bars, and restaurants before (only one of the incidents being my fault, and that one over a very minor transgression) but never a college dorm. |

Most people don't find the plight of the desperate and poor to be amusing, but we laugh at 174's prestige rants, which deal with the nature of class in our society. |

Unlikely. It's just that PW uses all lower case letters in his "hidden shtick," and Pensive uses normal punctuation. CONSIDER I'm not going to comment, for the following reason: I am a troll, and therefore my obvious interest is to convince others of a lie. Trolls want to shift blame for their trolls and take credit for other peoples'. (Blame and credit are, of course, the same commodity; in essence, they just want obfuscation.) Therefore, if I am indeed Pauliewalnuts, I should want you to believe him to be someone else, and I would be massively prestigious for this getting the whole way to the Wash Post without my getting caught. If I am not Pauliewalnuts, then I want credit for his very successful trolling, and I will be prestigious for having been given it.
I win as long as the majority of XO believes the opposite of what is true, and therefore whatever is in my interest will not be in other peoples'. Therefore, my contributions on this topic will be of no value to anyone.
But, even if the truth is discovered, then I win either way. If I am Pauliewalnuts, and it is believed to be so, then the board is convinced of my skill as a troll. If I am not Pauliewalnuts, and considered innocent of his deeds, then I can watch with awe as an innocent bystander. No matter what happens, I win. Pensive always wins.

i work in DC and drive out to charlottesville on fridays. i am @ UVA for grad school. i would tell you what grad program im in but its too small and would give away my ID.
i work long hours still, but my job now = antitrust. i am not doing the heavy lifting corp work anymore. i specialize in Rodino filings and 2nd requests. i travel a lot to the clients (which could be any day of the week, i just have to go on site and dig through their treasure trove to find the magic docs that DOJ needs to approve the merger)
do you have a thought on the underlying question?
btw, i am new as of yesterday, although i used to post on jdjive.com when i was in L school. im not a fan of kubricks work either, having only seen 1 of his movies (Eyes Wide Shut)
