I figured out your best way out of this conundrum.

You need to get into real estate. Specifically, start by using your wife's money to buy the cheapest small property within 30 minutes of where you live.

Contract the renovation yourself learning as much as possible.

Flip.

You may lose money, but who gives a shit. This is just to learn.

Do it again until you're good at it.

Then start renting them out.

Use.ypur wife's money to build a nice little real estate empire.

Get your contractors license while your at it. Do some contracting work on the side so you can keep your subs happy.

that way you can fire the nanny and the kids get a better childhood with someone around during the early developmental stages. once they are approaching high school and will be bratty and have social demands, you guys can settle somewhere cheaper with a nice $$$ situation from your wife grinding partnership for years.

what you don't want to do is continue toiling something like 40 hours a week at a go-nowhere job while she's making seven figures. in addition to the fact that this scenario often drives a wedge into marriages IME, it will handcuff you to her salary once the kids are older and expensive private schools, college, housing, etc all starts to blow you out. you will be able to afford it but she'll have to continue working.

stack cash for as long as it works, then both get out and move somewhere you like but cheaper and easier. you keep practicing so you can have some semblance of a career and she will be able to get something lucrative but not to scale with what she was doing. then you can both have a more chill and balanced lifestyle as your kids become more independent. and the money will be all good. if she has some trajectory after paying back in or whatever needs to happen and you're not getting wrecked by lifestyle creep wherever you are, you could put away several million easily and be very comfortable for the next phase.
