That phrase is written in a military/warrior tribute style. Here’s what it means:
“Rest now brother” → addressed to a fallen comrade (soldier, friend, or brother-in-arms), telling them they can finally rest because their duty is done.
“We have the watch” → in military/naval language, a “watch” is a guard duty or shift. It means “we’ll stand guard, we’ll carry on the duty in your place.”
“I’ll see you in Valhalla” → Valhalla in Norse mythology is the warrior’s afterlife, where brave fighters who died in battle go to feast and fight forever. Saying this means “you’ll be honored among warriors; we’ll meet again in the afterlife.”
π So, overall it’s a poetic farewell to a fallen comrade:
"You’ve fought enough, rest now. We’ll carry on the duty, and one day we’ll meet again in the hall of warriors."
