That's a broad statement about jokes. Do you have no sense of decency? Would you make a joke about how Tillman should have taken that contract at his funeral?
Anyway, at the very least, some things shouldn't be joked about at certain times and places. Like, you shouldn't spit on the dead, 5 minutes after you learn that they made the ultimate sacrifice for you.
And, if you're going to make an inappropriate joke, it sure as hell better be funny, which this wasn't, objectively. |

That comment was no where near the funny side of that line due to a number of circumstances (the selflessness of Tillman's death, the timing, etc.- all already mentioned), and it is hard to tell, if ever, when, where or how a joke like this will ever be "funny"(read: absurd).
eu-fo is either remarkably stupid, remarkably unfunny or remarkably cruel for crossing that line, and those of you defending him just as confused. |
